After the match is complete, the only thing left to do is report the scores. Exactly how you do so depends on the type of competition you are participating in.
The first requirement, though, is that you have a record of the match scores. The best way to do this is to take a screenshot of the final scores after the match is complete. To do this, press Alt-O when the scores are displayed. A bitmap file will be created in the root directory of the game. The picture will resemble one of the following, depending on whether the game is XvT or XWA.
Normal EH competitions, like those held on IRC, have a competition moderator. For IRC events, the moderator’s name should be announced in the topic of the channel, otherwise just ask. After flying a match, you must report your results to the competition moderator. Usually this is done via e-mail, including the competition's name on the e-mail subject, although some moderators may accept reports on IRC, but then again: ASK.
To help with the data entry into the database afterwards, it is important to report your results to the moderator in the format that the database understands. The information required is the game played (XvT or XWA), the pin numbers of all players involved, the names of all players involved, and the number of kills each team scored. For a 1v1 match, the score is reported like this:
{XvT | XWA}
{pin1},{name1},{kills1},{pin2},{name2},{kills2}
So, for example, if Jason (pin 25983) beats Kenny (pin 30265) by a score of 15-12 in XvT, the game will be reported as:
XvT
25983,Jason,15,30265,Kenny,12
If a player is not a member of the TIE Corps, report his pin as 0 instead.
And if you are going to report several matches for multiple game platforms you must separate them in game platforms. Something like this:
XvT
666,YourMother,1000,314159,PoorPoorRookie,1
6661,YourFather-in-law,3000,314159,PoorPoorRookie,1
XWA
314159,PoorPoorRookie,1000,0,NRN_n00b,1
314159,PoorPoorRookie,20,0,TRA_dude,19
0,TFA_dude,31,314159,PoorPoorRokie,29
For a 2v2 match, the game must be split up into two 1v1 matches, because the database does not support 2v2 matches directly. Report the matches in such a way that all players’ pins are incorporated. For example, if Billy (32085) and David (29836) beat Johnny (19275) and Paul (20835) 30-25 in XWA, the games could be reported like this:
XWA
32085,Billy and David,30,19275,Johnny and Paul,25
29836,David and Billy,30,20835,Paul and Johnny,25
This gives each player on the winning team a win, each player on the losing team a loss, and the names indicate that the match was 2v2 and not two 1v1s.
Oh, by the way, in 2v2 matches all shared kills, those enclosed in parenthesis at "Team Kills / Deaths", are friend-kills... failures... bollocks... you vaped your wingmate omg!! Exactly: you shared those kills... with your opponents! And just for that reason and to avoid further shame upon yourselves those are not to be reported ;-P
And well, there's also the classic odd setup used by other SW online gaming clubs like TRA / TFA. Did you ever heard something like 1v1v1 (FF) or 3v3 or 4v4 or 1v1v1v1v1v1? I bet you did. I won't go into teams of more than 3 pilots each here, mainly because the possibility of flying one of those out of the Week of War, where matches shall be reported in a different way (see Battlestats next chapter), is almost unexistant nowadays. But 1v1v1s? Yes, you'll eventually find one of those and in such terrible case let's see what can be done:
Basically you have to report them in some way where the overall winner gets 2 LoCs for defeating 2 different players, the second ranking pilot gets 1 for beating just one and the last ranking player doesn't get any and starts thinking seriously on keep training. :-P
The classic scores screenshot for a 1v1v1 looks like this:
This is a XWA screen with an Imperial Mod. installed. The XvT screen is very similar.
As you can see there were 3 teams, one for each pilot. So let's go now with the reporting and proper scoring, shall we? A 1v1v1 will always be reported as if they were actually 3 matches. Then follow these guidelines:
- In the first match the overall winner (that crazy Zós in this case... ahem) will beat the second ranking pilot (Sergeyli)
- In the second match the overall winner (Zós again) will beat the third ranking player (Tyrian)
- In the last match the second ranking player (Sergeyli) will beat the third ranking player (Tyrian)
And about those scores they're to be reported exactly the same with the only exception of shared kills, enclosed in parenthesis near full kills. If you read carefully above you might have seen those are not to be counted on 2v2 because they are actually friendly-kills. Well, here IS NOT the case; here they mean that kills has been shared between you and one of your opponents. Shared kills would be very silly as friendly kills though; who the hell was your friend out there?! But they need to be halved rounded down kills-wise. So in that example above where Zós got 27 full kills and 5 shared kills, 27 (5), he will have a total of 27 + ( 5 / 2 rounded down ) = 27 + 2 = 29 kills.
And that's it. The final report on this 1v1v1 match will be:
XWA
12450,EH_ZositeKS,29,12494,EH_Sergeyli,19
12450,EH_ZositeKS,29,12568,Tyrian,17
12494,EH_Sergeyli,19,12568,Tyrian,17
After the scores are entered into the database, you can see the competition appear on your combat record. Opening the competition will show all of the results, so you can check to make sure they are correct. If there are any inconsistencies, first contact the competition host, who will take action to correct the problem, or the COO in case of a 24/7 LoCs match.
Nowadays....: currently all Combat Records are waiting to be restored at the new TIE Corps database as well as 'Participated Combat Events', so even if you're awarded what you deserve you won't be able to see those competitions displayed on your TC profile until such restoration is completed.
For Competition Hosts:
Ensure that the competition details are sent to the COO address (coo@emperorshammer.org) before the competition takes place. This will allow the competition to be entered into the competition calendar in advance, giving players a chance to find out about it. Required information is the name or title of the competition, the start date and time, the end date and time, the game platform(s) to be used, and an optional description and URL. If the competition is to be run on IRC, include the IRC channel in the description. If the competition has multiple game platforms, it will be split up into multiple events, one for each platform.
After the event, report the scores to the COO address (coo@emperorshammer.org). Split up the scores for each platform into separate paragraphs within the e-mail, and make it clear which event and platform each set of scores are for. This allows the COO office to simply paste the scores into the database entry form.
Nowadays....: currently only COOAs (Combat Operations Officer Assistants) are able to host and report competitions to the COO himself. These competitions usually take place on #ehcoo channel, Undernet server. Usually they're NOT included in the Competition Calendar in advance but after they take place with the scores already included. Sometimes they're included in advance though. Anyways, to be well informed about their schedule it's better to read carefully COO reports. Moreover! currently there are NO EH-especific Multiplayer competitions, and all that is not '24/7 LoCs' events is played on Battlestats.
A ladder is a competition where players are ranked based on their performance. When the ladder ends, the player at the top of the list wins. This type of listing is called a ladder, because players climb up the list as they win matches, much like one climbs a ladder.
To report a score to the EH ladder, first ensure that both players are registered, and both qualify to participate on the desired ladder (for example, don’t submit matches for a Dark Brotherhood ladder if you aren’t a member). To submit the match, you will need to know your ladder name, your opponent’s ladder name, the number of kills you each scored, and have a screenshot of the scores.
Report the score by logging in and using the report match option. Enter all of the required information, and submit it. The score will appear when the ladder moderator approves it.
Note: The ladder site is currently non-operational. EH Ladder itself has been discontinued. Check the EH news to stay up-to-date.
If you have played a match that doesn’t apply to any other competition, it's known as a '24/7 LoCs' match and you can still get credit for flying it. To do so, feel free to submit the results of your match/es at the TIE Corps database itself. First, you'd need to agree with your opponent/s on who will submit the results. Then, only 1 of all participants from a given match will do the submission (usually the winner, although not necessary).
For your submission to be processed by the COO, you'll need to have those screenshots ready: 2 for 5/5 matches and 1 if one of the players hosted the whole 10 mins. match himself (both players must agree on this because only one of them will have the advantage during the whole match, usually who does NOT host).
Now with the screenshots ready and converted to either JPG, PNG or GIF (no BMPs by any means!), login into the TIE Corps database with your #PIN and password, and at your Administration panel you'll find the appropiate option:
And finally you got this screen below.
As easy as it seems: you just select the participating pilots (or non-TC pilot if your opponent was not a TIE Corps member) and enter all kills looking at the screenshots. Take note that you must enter Player Kills and not Team Kills; the automated system will automatically do the maths for you. And remember: since those are not teams kills, player's shared kills are counted as half-kills, as explained above. With all this cleared the're a few important points, already stated on that screen but that I'm gonna copy here just in case:
- ONLY 1v1 and 2v2 matches are to be reported here. The rest of '24/7 LoCs' fancy setups like 1v1v1, 3v3 and above are to be reported directly to the COO via e-mail and using the appropiate reporting format as explained above on "EH Competition" section.
- Those matches not belonging to '24/7 LoCs' guidelines nor for a Battlestats competition are to be reported via e-mail either to the COO himself or to the competition moderator if they were for an EH-sponsored MP competition. The name of the competition must be included on the e-mail's subject.
- No report will be accepted if it doesn't come with its screenshots, either 1 or 2, but never 0 by any means. Remember: Alt-O is your friend, but later you'll need to convert the BMP files to one of the accepted formats before uploading 'em using the form!
And, above everything else, do not report matches in this way if they have already been reported as part of an EH competition or ladder or Battlestats event (like Week of War). Doing so can be considered cheating!
For events hosted by Battlestats (like Week of War), scores are reported directly to Battlestats. After the event, a member of the COO staff will ensure that awards are given for all matches won by EH pilots. It is therefore unnecessary for a pilot to report scores to the COO for Battlestats events. For details on how to submit the match to Battlestats, see the next chapter.
